Understanding accelerated underwriting: who qualifies, the process, and options when it is not available.
Today, accelerated underwriting means many carriers approve coverage quickly: for eligible applicants within age and amount parameters, they make decisions using application details, pharmacy data, driving records, and other records instead of a clinical exam. Some approvals happen within hours. Each rate quote on this site notes whether an exam is required, may be required, or is not needed.
What it changes
Accelerated underwriting does not skip the investigation process. Your statements are cross-checked, and a policy based on false information can be rescinded within the first two years. If the carrier's records show discrepancies, they may still require an exam or testing; you may then decide whether to proceed.
Who tends to qualify
Usually applicants younger than sixty seeking amounts within the carrier's accelerated program limit, with no significant medical issues and no tobacco history for the past year or longer. Carriers may accept results from a recent medical visit if bloodwork was performed.
When needed, exams typically take twenty to forty minutes and occur at your residence or workplace in Bell Gardens, with no out-of-pocket cost. Positive exam results can lead to better rate classifications for applicants in good health, so an exam may actually work in your favor.
